To kick off the new year we've got our Partnerships Manager Jonny talking about the future, the need to understand the changes that are closer than we might think and why a UBI is so badly needed.

The presentation will be followed by an open discussion and then our monthly updates and planning meeting.

Tomorrow's Worlds Collide

We often think of technology and visions of the future as far off places, way out ahead of us; but things have changed. The distances in front of us aren't measured in decades anymore, they've become months, and the time we have to adapt is growing ever shorter.

In years gone by the new has been eased into our lives gently, giving us chance to adjust; but with each successive layer of 'innovations', the pace quickens and the consequences are much further reaching. As 2020 begins we find ourselves at the tipping point of multiple factors, each with the potential to change things more than we've ever experienced before: automation, AI, robots, healthcare, big data, energy production, connectivity, construction; all in an interconnected, globalised world facing out-of-control pollution, hurtling toward irreversible climate-breakdown.

What happens next is hard to predict, but one thing is for sure, if we don't start to grasp what's happening now the wondrous opportunity we've been dreaming of could take us on a very different path.
