The 18th Congress, titled “Basic Income and the New Universalism: Rethinking the Welfare State in the 21st Century” will be held at the University of Tampere in Tampere, Finland, August 24-25, 2018.

The conference will focus on both knowledge/evidence, policy design, implementation and political aspects of basic income. Presentations and discussions on these topics give room for academic researchers, citizen activists and policy implementations.

The 2018 BIEN Congress will be preceded by a Nordic UBI Day which will focus on the basic income debate across the Nordic countries featuring representatives from Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Norway and Sweden.
